形態特徵

Evergreen trees up to 15 m high; trunks 0.6 m across; branchlets gray-brownish-black, with lenticels; buds ovoid, brown, scales nearly glabrous or slightly puberulent outside.
Leaves lanceolate, broadly lanceolate to oblong, 6.5–9 cm long, 1.6–2.4 cm wide, acuminate or caudate at apex, acute at base, slightly coriaceous, glabrous and glaucous beneath, margins entire, or serrulate to serrate toward apex, midrib concave above, elevated beneath, lateral veins 7–10 pairs; petioles 1–2.3 cm long.
Staminate catkins pendulous; Staminate flowers 2.5 mm long, 3 mm wide; perianth 5–6-lobed, glabrous on both sides except hairy at margins; filaments 1.5 mm long, anthers 1 mm long. Pistillate flowers 2.2–2.5 mm long, 1.8–2.2 mm broad; perianth 5–6-lobed; ovary incompletely 3-celled, styles 3, stigmas enlarged.
Cupules 0.7 cm long, 1.2 cm across, scales in 7–10 concentric rings;nuts ellipsoid, 1.7–2.2 cm long, 1–1.1 cm across, acutish at tip, rounded at base.

分布

台灣 : in broad-leaved forests at 700 to 1,800 m altitude.
